Pharaoh (cat) has been doing better. The first day Hawk was here, I don't think Pharaoh ate or slept, because he was too distracted staring at the dog. Yesterday, while Hawk was sleeping on the floor, Pharaoh tried to quietly sneak around him. We're glad Pharaoh's getting more comfortable, and willing to sleep soundly with Hawk around.
Pharaoh doesn't seem to eat his hard food anymore. He (until 2 minutes ago) only used the litter box when Hawk was out walking or gated in the bedroom at bedtime. He just now used the litterbox and ate, with Rachel's encouragement, with Hawk watching him from six feet away.
Glad to say the cat's doing better. We're hoping that he'll get less scared about eating, drinking, and using the litterbox in Hawk's presence. When we see some progress, we may stop gating Hawk in the bedroom at night. Sometime after that, we won't have to gate at all!
